چکیده

At sufficiently large proton energies, Glauber multiple-scattering theory offers good opportunities for describing the final state interactions in electro-induced proton emission off nuclear targets. A fully unfactorized relativistic formulation of Glauber multiple-scattering theory is presented. The effect of truncating the Glauber multiple-scattering series is discussed. Relativistic effects in the description of the final-state interactions are found not to exceed the few percent level. Also the frequently adopted approximation of replacing the wave functions for the individual scattering nucleons by some average density, is observed to have a minor impact on the results when obtained in the independent-particle model. Predictions for the separated 4He(e, e′p) response functions are given in quasi-elastic kinematics and a domain corresponding with 1 Q2 2 (GeV)2.  2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. We investigate the reactions D(e, ep)n and D(~e, ep)n at GeV energies and discuss the opportunities to distinguish between different models for the nuclear ground state by measuring the response functions. In calculating the final-state interaction (FSI) we employ Glauber theory, and we also include relativistic effects in the electromagnetic current. We include not only the central FSI, but al...

Polarization-transfer components for He(~e, e~ p)H are computed within the relativistic multiplescattering Glauber approximation (RMSGA). The RMSGA framework adopts relativistic singleparticle wave functions and electron-nucleon couplings. The predictions with free and various parametrizations for the medium-modified electromagnetic form factors are compared to the world data. In conventional n...

Multiphoton Exchange Processes in Ultraperipheral Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

The very strong electromagnetic fields present in ultraperipheral relativistic heavy ion collisions lead to important higher order effects of the electromagnetic interaction. These multiphoton exchange processes are studied using perturbation theory and the sudden or Glauber approximation. In many important cases, the multi-photon amplitudes factorize into independent single-photon amplitudes. ...
